Commemorating One Week

Today marks a week from the last time ants ruled our kitchen. I can now continue on with life, not feeling guilty for the many times I sang "Yo quiero tener un millon de hormigas, asi mas fuerte poder gritar." I will scream plenty loud enough, should I care to, with out the help of a million ants.

Today also is the anniversary of "we will never forget." May those who died rest in peace. May those who live learn ever more what it means to truly live.

Instead of resorting to toxic products or insanity, I suggest you try a more eastern approach, which is learn to welcome and embrace your ant friends. That is what I do. In fact, I thank them for the much-needed cleaning they do in my kitchen. I view them much like a shark views those little parasite-fishies that clean his back.

For larger and less numerous "pests" or "pets" as I like to call them, it is appropriate to give them a name.

For instance, new to my family is Babs the Bat. Babs likes to hang out under the ceiling of my guest room (anyone want to come visit?) and my bathroom. She drops poops that I for a long time used to blame on W. until I realized the unlikelihood of W. climbing up into my bathroom sink to poop. When I turn on the light in the guest room, she usually gets startled and comes flying out, almost running into me.

Well, I tried to think of ways to get rid of her, but I didn't come up with anything. That's when I gave her a name and welcomed her to my family.

I'll post a picture of her if I ever manage to get one.

ps. "hormigas" is spelled with an "h". Except in portuguese, when it is spelled with an "f".
